I do lean towards Jack/Chloe in this fandom, but I tend to prefer it in light doses and without the
Audrey, Spenser and/or Morris bashing that seems prevalent in the Jack/Chloe fandom. (I liked Audrey, I
did! Until she killed, albeit indirectly, Edgar's mom.)
All Along
R | Gen
Jack/Chloe in which Jack doesn't suddenly fall heads over heels for Chloe. I love this look at the
genesis of the relationship from Jack's POV.
All My Sins Remembered
PG | Angst
Charles/Martha post his day 6 stabbing. A great look at a Charles seeking redemption and unwavering
in his love for his ex-wife.
Arrested Again
PG | Romance/Humor
A cute fluffy Jack/Chloe. Sometimes I think Chloe is written slightly out of character, but this
line from the cop makes up for it: "[L]ady, you've been infringing on my civil liberties for the last ten
minutes, now shut the hell up before I charge you with wasting my time on top of everything else."
Begin to Hope
PG
Morris/Chloe post day 6. Because I'm a Jack/Chloe fan, I've come across many a fic in which poor
Morris is villified for giving into the terrorists demands (or just to clear the path for Jack/Chloe);
so this is a breath of fresh air. Both characters deal with Morris' actions that day without bashing
the guy and keeps the two in character.
Brunette
PG-13 | Angst/Romance
An AU-ish beginning for day six. Not very heavy on the romance aspect, more of a light dose of
romance amongst some heavy angst.
Day 5, Hour 16 10 PM to 11PM
PG-13 | Gen
An AU/What I Wish Would Happen-type fic. I love Buchanan's revelation and Chloe's reaction. While
I adore Jack/Chloe, Bill and Chloe's scene nails how I view the 'ship right on the head.
Four Things That Never Happened Between Jack Bauer and Chloe O'Brian and One Thing That, Well, You Never Know
PG-13 | General/Humor
Jack/Chloe friendship (mostly) which I tend to prefer. Stories 1 and 4 are my favorites and events
that I would pay to see played out on screen! Story 2 is hilarious, though would likely give me nightmares
if filmed.
Full Tilt
R | Gen
A cliche-fic challenge entry, in which Jack and Chloe wake up in the same bed with no memories of
the previous night, which avoids the cliched J/C 'shippy ending and instead gives you a great friendship
piece with a fantastically funny ending.
Giggling
R | Romance/General
No matter how much I try to avoid it, there's always one fluff piece out there that I always
go back to despite the fact that I can never really see it happening. This is my Jack/Chloe crack.
Great Expectations
PG | General/Angst
A look into why Logan chose to go down the path he did. Except for the part about his marriage to
Martha being a sham, I think this fic does a nice job of trying to analyze his motivations.
Hallelujah
PG | General/Angst
A fantastic look at how Jack's death at the end of season four affects everyone. Strangely enough
I actually like how Audrey is written better than Chloe in this fic.
Hero
PG-13
Post-day 3 fic. Generally I don't like Chloe-comforts-Jack fics since they often leave me wondering
why Chloe doesn't take out a restraining order on the guy. This one ventures into familiar territory but
instead of leaving me cringing, it leaves me with a smile.
I Shouldn't Be Crying
PG-13 | Gen
Sort of AU. While most Jack/Chloe fics dealing with the great CTU bloodbath of '06 get a little
too 'shippy for my tastes, this one leans more towards the friendship side and captures what I think
would be going through Chloe's head. (For the record, I liked Barry helping Chloe.)
Love is Watching Someone Die
R | Angst
The title gives you an idea of what to expect but the ending still manages to be heartbreaking.
Everyone has their idea of how 24 should end, and if has to end in death, this is what I'd want to see.
Non-Fatal Wounds
R | General
A look at what could've turned Stephen Saunders into the villian of day three.
Of Beds and Magnets
G | Romance/General
Jack/Chloe. A fluffy look at a day in Jack and Chloe's life in which neither of them is in danger,
angsting out or being harrased by Evil!Audrey (personally, I don't hate her, but it seems like most J/C
authors write her as a shrilly evil hag).
Of Tattoos and Hand Drawn Hearts
PG | Romance/General
Another cliche-fic challenge entry. While this fic has all the classic fic cliches (trapped in an
elevator, declarations of love, etc...) the author's style, tone and the way she writes Chloe makes you
forget all about the cliches and instead your focus is on a great story.
Once Upon a Time in Mexico
PG | Angst/Mystery
24/Law & Order: SVU crossover. Summary: "If they were both alive, maybe it would work."
Sanctuary
G | Angst
This fic has always struck me as slightly out of character, but never enough to pull me out it
and I keep on coming back to it because it's just a great Jack/Chloe friendship fic.
Six Fifty-Eight AM
PG | Drama/Angst
If you haven't seen Day Three, stop and watch before reading. If you have seen it, relive (what I
think) is the most tragic moment of 24.
Smile
PG-13
Jack's thoughts as he waits for Fayed during the season six premiere. I like to think of it as more
of a Jack/Chloe friendship piece. This is something I can see happening given Jack's current state of
mind.
Soldier Song
PG-13 | Drama
The summary, "her savior is spattered in blood", somehow perfectly describes this fic. It's a
Jack/Chloe 'ship piece that is in no way 'shippy or sappy, but captures the relationship between the two
perfectly.
Sometimes I Wonder Why I Bother
PG
Day three Chloe vents about her work situation.
Stand In
PG | Angst/Drama
Jack/Chloe/Chase. I came across this one while watching day three for the first time. Can I see
this situation happening? No. Does it make the story any less my kind of angst? Nope.
Steel Plated Cocoon
PG | Angst
Chase/Chloe friendship fic with a large dose of a bitter and angry Chloe that eschews the usual
nicknames and general out of character-ness that I usually see in fics that explore their friendship.
Stubborn
PG-13
A really cute Jack/Chloe fic that always makes me smile when I read it. Strangely, while I think
the two hooking up would be out of character, as written they seem perfectly in character.
The Postcard
PG | Drama/Angst
I don't hate Audrey, I'm just not really a Jack/Audrey fan and therefore I don't activately seek
out Audrey-fic. However, I stumbled across this quasi-AU post-S4 fic and it's a wonderfully written look
at Audrey after the deaths of Paul and Jack.
There is No Mathematics to Love and Loss
PG-13
Jack/Chloe friendship fic. I love this author's work because she can take elements of Jack/Chloe
fics that I normally hate and make it work. Fic consists of six mini fics (each a song prompt as part of a
challenge) which give you six different looks into their relationship.
They Say You're Pretty, But You Don't Think They're Right
PG-13
A Jack/Chloe fic that takes places during the year that Jack was "dead". While whether I can see
it happening or not depends on my mood, it's still a great look at the toll that Jack's secret takes on
Chloe and what she does when it's finally too much.
Thinking
PG-13 | Drama/Spiritual
A post-day five fic that takes a trip through Jack's mind and of the women around him. A squidge of
Audrey-bashing, but tries to be friendly as well.
Through Time and Glass
PG
Crossover that I didn't see coming, partly because I somehow managed to skip the whole "crossover"
mention in the headers, but mainly beause it's a wonderful fic that takes you into Jack's mind as he
watches Chloe one last time.
Trembling
PG | Drama, Romance
Day four missing scene fic. Chloe finally freaks out over killing the guy (but in a very Chloe-like
way). Labeled as romance, but can also be read as Jack/Chloe friendship, whichever way floats your boat.
'Twas the Night Before Christmas
PG-13 | Angst/Romance
An AU future-fic. I just really like how this could swerve into Jack/Chloe sap, but manages to
stay on an angsty path that leaves you wanting more.
Untitled
PG
A series of one sentence blurbs that encompass everything from humor to angst relating to Jack
and Chloe. #50 sums everything up about the two in one neat sentence.
Walk Away
PG | Drama/Angst
A wonderfully written 'Chloe deals with the aftermath of Jack's death' fic that would fit
seamlessly inbetween seasons 4 and 5.
Women's Shoes
PG | Romance/Drama
A Chloe/Morris piece that reads like an extended scene from the season five finale. I love how
this look at Morris from Chloe POV stays true to Chloe's character and sheds light on why she would've
married Morris in the first place.
